Client Process

  • Initial Consultation
We start with an interview to help us understand what you have in mind for your home. We welcome your photos, articles, ideas and wish lists so we have a truly collaborative effort throughout the project. Please feel free to offer as much information as possible. This could include; style, color preferences, finishes, lighting requirements, etc.

  • Retainer
A modest design retainer is required at the onset of your project. This retainer will be applied toward your contract deposit should you decide to move forward with purchasing cabinetry and fixtures through us.

  • Cost Estimate
We will help you define a budget based on the consultation and any follow-up discussions. If you already have a budget established, we will design within these parameters.

  • Design Phase
At this time, if needed, we will measure the existing space and photograph the existing structure. The project designer will then take the information and compile a preliminary design for your review. The designer will make any requested changes and present final designs and written specifications for your approval. Design meetings will generally take place in our studio. This process will vary from project to project depending on complexity and how quickly decisions can be made. Please remember that individualized design takes time.

  • Final Document Approval
At this meeting we will review the final project package consisting of cabinetry, fixtures and material costs, detailed drawings, complete project scope of work and payment schedules.

  • Project Scheduled for Installation
Appropriate permits are obtained and a project superintendent is assigned to your project. Your designer and superintendent will work together to provide you a stress free experience.

314 Design Studio will gladly join your professional team to develop custom plans. We encourage meetings on site and in our showroom, allowing everyone to review and coordinate the styles and finishes available.
